Can I tow a caravan with a class B license?

Yes — class B lets you tow any caravan up to 750 kg directly. Models like Olimpos (1450 kg) from the Aydeniz Karavan fleet still qualify under class B because the tow vehicle + caravan total stays under the 3500 kg limit.

When is a BE class license required?

When the caravan exceeds 750 kg AND the tow vehicle + caravan total exceeds 4250 kg. Aydeniz Karavan's models are kept within these limits.

What license do I need for a motorhome?

Motorhomes up to 3500 kg (Class B motorhome, compact Class C) can be driven with a class B license. The Family Lux motorhome in our fleet stays under 3500 kg.

Can I rent with my foreign driving license?

EU, US, UK, Swiss, and Norwegian licenses are valid in Turkey for up to 6 months and accepted for caravan rental. Licenses from other countries require an International Driving Permit (IDP).

Renting a Caravan with a Class B License: The Basics

In Turkey, a class B license allows you to drive cars and light commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight not exceeding 3500 kg. For caravans, two cases apply:

Motorized caravan (motorhome): If gross weight stays under 3500 kg, class B is sufficient.
Towable caravan (trailer-type): If the caravan's empty weight is under 750 kg, class B is sufficient. Over 750 kg triggers extra conditions.

The 750 kg Threshold — The Most Important Line

Under Turkey's Road Traffic Regulation, a class B holder can:

Tow up to 750 kg of trailer/caravan (no extra conditions).
Tow a trailer/caravan over 750 kg if the combined gross weight of tow vehicle + caravan stays under 4250 kg.

In practice: if your car is 1800 kg and the towable caravan is 1450 kg, total 3250 kg — class B works. If your car is 2300 kg and the caravan is 2100 kg, total 4400 kg — class B is not enough, you'll need B96 or BE class.

Commonly Confusing Questions

"I have a BB license, can I drive a caravan?" — BB was a deprecated class. You most likely hold class B, so class B rules apply.
